Bape LA Store

Japanese brand Bape has done exceedingly well since it began 10 years ago, and through its loyal Far-East following, and great collab hook ups, including the original swaggerlific Pharrell (to drop a hot one) the brand has gone from strength to strength, with stores popping up all around the globe.

Hooking up with Japanese designer Masamichi Katayama to re-vamp their LA store, the result is something very very very cool.....

Bape Star in neon lights cool. Glass cylinder in the middle, very cool. Shoes on a conveyor belt inside the cylinder, very very cool...........
....at least being handed a display shoe here wont grant that "are you mad, i dont think so" look ....

1948, Nike Sportswear

Hurray, 1948, the London Nike Sportswear store has re-opened its doors and goh blimey!!....what a transformation!!.

Gone are the wooden panels and benches that gave the space a cold gymnasium feel. Gone are the Olympic paraphernalia. Instead, the space is reminisent of an uber dope FC sportwear store. The football pitch in neon lights on the ceiling is crazy.

Stole these pics from Agostinho's blog and the first shot from We Are HQ as somehow (i dont fuckin know how) i wasn't there. (Miles, Pichalas...we got words!!)

BORED!!!!

My mum said something to me in passing the other day that reinforced something that i was thinking. She asked (surprisingly) why i hadn't bought any new trainers recently. Having had to cope with mulitple boxes mounting the hallway, and my constant chattering about my precious kicks, Mum wondered why i hadn't bounced in with yet another trainer purchase...and it got me thinking again about the sneaker game at the moment.

Having conversed with a few sneaker freaks about this, most heads are feeling the same. That the sneaker game at the moment has got pretty Boring!!! Some said that the scene has got too saturated with brands that are doing the same said things....following the hype basically, not being as inventive or innovative as the game needs. Others have taken the ecomomic situation into play, suggesting that brands are trying to keep shit safe at the mo.....nobody wants to be taking risks, or making losses. A few said that shit like this just happens....the game has its ups and down, taking dips at times in order to pave the way fro some real creative off the chain shit....and the rest have just said that real sneaker peps are taking a back burner at the mo...reppin the old skool comfortable shit that encapsulated the sneaker game at its best.

I for one hope that things start looking up...and quickly...as im starting to pull out ol' skool shit that really should stay in their boxes..lol....

My mates at 24 Kilates killing it again on another collab with New Balance on the 1500. With a mix-match (surrealist inspired) vibrant contrasting colourway to the kicks, these sneakers are really dope in capulating and maintaining what both 24 Kilates and New Balance as brand's are about.
