NIKE STAB

Media propaganda? Fear-mungering? Prevention?

Thursday's London Paper ran with an artcle about Nike UK's withdrawal of their range the 'Nike Air Stab' following the recent spate of fatal knife attacks in London. This re-release of the limited edition 1988 running shoe has the AIR STAB lettering in bold on the side panel, and due to the recent climate of knife crime committed by teenagers, anti knife and gun campaigners and (some) comsumers have pressured the company to remove these trainers from the shelves.
My problem with this is that not only does it produce more unneeded fear surrounding our safety on London streets but takes away from the real issues and questions surrounding this epidemic. I mean, the youts that are comitting these crimes are NOT likely to be wearing these kicks. Air Force 1s and Air Max's maybe. Air Stab's.....i just dont think so. These are a collectors item. One for those in the know. And if anything, highlighting this trainer in this way will only do the opposite and appeal to them more.
I know dont know if this is media propaganda and fear-mungring gone too far but voice you opinions and lemme know what you think!!

Either way, my Stabs ae still staying in my deadstock collecton.....
