V&A

The Victoria &Albert Museum
5 August 08 - 4 January 09

"The exhibition explores the creative connections between the two worlds of fashion and sport. Recent developments have seen an increasing number of collaborations and hybrids, from fashion designers producing collections with sportswear brands to sports personalities heading fashion campaigns or even designing their own collections. Fashion V Sport will reveal the complexities and tensions between the two industries".

"Sportswear has become an essential part of the modern wardrobe. Trainers and tracksuits are often more readily worn than suits, and high performance textiles developed for competition are being integrated into high-end fashion. Fashion V Sport examines the way that sports styles are adapted to make fashion statements, both on the street and through high fashion, and how sports and fashion products are consumed, customised and worn".

Adidas AZX Collection

Saw this on my favourite on-line mag, highsnobiety.com, and had to spread the news to all you sneaker heads out there. Keep an eye out for these sneaks, their da dogs bollocks mate!!

This is the first part of the Adidas AZX collection, a massive effort by Adidas in which they have invited high profile brands and stores from around the globe to design their very own Adidas ZX model. This first part consists of collaborations with ACU, Bodega, Colette, D-Mop, Limiteditions, Foot Patrol, Goodfoot and Huf.

Details, Left - Right, Top - bottom.

1) San Fransico's HUF play tribute to the city's railroad history with the trainers white and navy railway line design. The attention to detail here is proper, allowing the railraod theme to continue with brass eyelids and a lacing stystem to represent the city's tracks.

2) The bold red colour and yellow accents compliment the chinese origins of these ACU ZX800's. The chinese theme runs through right to the silk like material used and the suede panelling. Even the ACU tag in the middle of the laces, a wooden jewel, are representative.

3) Canada's Goodfoot store have embraced Adidas's grum project with their environmental friendly sneaker. Lovin the recycled material used for this project. No carbon footprints here.
4) The detailing on these Limied EDition sneakers are to die for. Shabby Shabby Shabby. Even worth the trip to Barcelona.

5) The black and white of Parisian boutique Colette's ZX 3OO are as elegant and timeless as Paris itself. The play on words, that begin with the letter C is just as cool as Colette's itself. I spotted cool, complex, champagne and chance.

6) Furturistic or what! We always knew that Hong Kong was ahead of the times but these are like, supposed to be from 2010 or something. Wow. These D-MOP ZX 500's are metric, moses.

And last but by no means least, London's Footpatrol crew have come up with this creation. Ahh so reminiscent of the good ol' jungle rave days......

SLAMED @Slam City

For those who never read the previous post on Adrian Blanca's collaboration with es which, by the way is being exhibited at 16 Neals Yard untill August 15th, here are a few pics that i took from the preview.

The incredible intricate drawings that focus on skateboard culture (a culture which roots and brings inspiration) is laser etched onto these es trainers (more familiar with SB heads). If you dont fancy the kicks, dont worry. His work has also been applied to hoodies, tees and caps. The kicks seen above are my favs and am sure will be heavily rocked by skaterheads. Check out more of this guy's work at http://www.esfootwear.com/ The work really is amazing!!! Here he is signing my copy of the one off limited edition piece that he created especially for the preveiw.

Muchas Gracias!!!

NIKE STAB

Media propaganda? Fear-mungering? Prevention?

Thursday's London Paper ran with an artcle about Nike UK's withdrawal of their range the 'Nike Air Stab' following the recent spate of fatal knife attacks in London. This re-release of the limited edition 1988 running shoe has the AIR STAB lettering in bold on the side panel, and due to the recent climate of knife crime committed by teenagers, anti knife and gun campaigners and (some) comsumers have pressured the company to remove these trainers from the shelves.
My problem with this is that not only does it produce more unneeded fear surrounding our safety on London streets but takes away from the real issues and questions surrounding this epidemic. I mean, the youts that are comitting these crimes are NOT likely to be wearing these kicks. Air Force 1s and Air Max's maybe. Air Stab's.....i just dont think so. These are a collectors item. One for those in the know. And if anything, highlighting this trainer in this way will only do the opposite and appeal to them more.
I know dont know if this is media propaganda and fear-mungring gone too far but voice you opinions and lemme know what you think!!

Either way, my Stabs ae still staying in my deadstock collecton.....

Wine and Grind

To celebrate this year's Quai 54, France's biggest streetball tournament (in fact if im right, its the biggest in Europe), the Nike Jordan brand will be releasing two special edition sneakers that will make up the 'Wine and Grind' collection. Launched on the 4th July (sorry this isn't an early scoop ting) at Opium and Colette in Paris, (two of the VERY FEW shops in France to stock them) there are only 155 of these made.

The Wine colour with its gold accents is very 'weekend away being wined and dined by your man' ...... and would look hot inner the dance, or with a nice suit. (hummm...I must say its a favouite of mine. More wine please!!)

Whilst the Black and Red wine colour will look fabulous come Winter.

To kop yourself a pair go to http://www.wesoldout.com/ before they sell out. You have been warned!!
